Child Welfare Module
Welcome to the Child Welfare module on child abuse investigations and minimal facts interviewing for the Initial Child Interview Training. This course was created to educate first responders on how to properly conduct an initial child interview to determine the minimal facts of a case following a report of child sexual abuse, physical abuse and child sexual exploitation.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Summarize five considerations for a minimal facts interview
- Describe how a minimal facts interview fits into a coordinated, multi-disciplinary investigation
- List three trauma-informed practices that can be employed in a minimal facts interview
- Recite at least three benefits of referring a child to a Child Advocacy Center/Multi-disciplinary Interview Center for a forensic interview.

Continuing Education Credit:
Participants may apply for Continuing Education Credits after the completion of these modules. The Child Welfare module meets the qualifications for 2 hours of Continuing Education Credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #128590). The Center for Innovation and Resources, Inc. (CIR) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. CIR maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. CE Credits will be available after each module for a fee of $20. Certificates for CE Credits will be emailed to participants within two weeks following completion.
