Course Overview:
Internet crimes committed against children are increasing every year at an alarming rate. This session will provide child abuse professionals with information about online child sexual abuse offenses including current California laws and the legal consequences of these crimes. Case studies will feature grooming techniques used by online child predators. Best practices for reporting online sexual exploitation will be discussed. Mental health resources regarding vicarious trauma will also be provided.
Meet the Presenter
Angela Brunson is a Riverside County Deputy District Attorney assigned to the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACA) and the Computer and Technology Crimes High-Tech Response Team (CATCH). She is also cross designated as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. Angela has specialized in the prosecution of online child predators and child sexual abuse material cases since 2016. She has received technical training from the National Computer Forensics Institute, and she has presented training to agencies across the United States, as well as Vietnam and Qatar. Outside of the office, she is a motorcycle racer and the proud owner of two ridiculously silly Pygmy goats.

Continuing Education Credits (CECs)
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will demonstrate knowledge of at least 2 current California Penal Code sections related to online child sexual abuse offenses.
- Attendees will identify 3 motives that drive online child predators to sexually exploit or abuse their victims.
- Attendees will develop a plan to report online sexual abuse including one best practice for handling digital devices to preserve evidence.
- Attendees will be able to identify 2 symptoms of vicarious trauma and give 2 examples of mental health resources.

If you are interested in Continuing Education, payments will be accepted at the training for a fee of $20.
All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. Participants may also apply for Continuing Education Credits after the event. Course meets qualifications for 1.5 hour(s) of Continuing Education Credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #128590). The Center for Innovation and Resources, Inc. (CIR) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. CIR maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. CE Credits will be available after the event for a fee of $20. Certificates for CE Credits will be mailed to participants within two weeks following the event.
