The California Trauma Informed Care Academy (CalTICA) is designed to provide a baseline on the neurobiology of trauma and best trauma-informed practices for multidisciplinary professionals. The course is free and available online 24/7. Anyone who is interested in learning about trauma-informed care can take the course.

Start Learning

Go to the CalTICA learning hub, where you can create your account. You will receive a confirmation email and then you will be able to add our free modules to your cart to start the course.

Watch a tutorial with instructions for creating an account and getting started with the Learning Hub.

Modules Available Now

Length of modules

The first three modules are designed to be approximately 60-90 minutes in length, though your time may vary.

Quizzes and Certificates

Each module includes a quiz that will help us measure your knowledge before and after you complete the module. You are not expected to know the answers before taking the module. Once you have completed the module, you will need a score of 80% to receive a certificate of completion.

You will receive a certificate of completion after each module. If you complete the first three modules you can email us to request a Core Knowledge Certificate. Individual certificates for each discipline-specific module will also be available.

CEUs for MFTs and LCSWs

At this time we are offering CEUs for MFTs and LCSWs licensed in California. We will be pursuing credit for the discipline-specific modules as appropriate once they are available. If you are an MFT or LCSW and would like to receive CEU credit, continue reading How to Receive Continuing Education Units
