Free training offered by the Greater Bay Area Child Abuse Prevention Council Coalition in collaboration with CIR, Inc.

Overview: Understanding the grooming process, how it happens and what it looks like is vital to preventing child sexual abuse. This webinar will give an overview of how children and families are groomed by offenders, the ways this grooming affects victims, and the role of adults in intervening.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how the normalization of sexualization of children in our culture aids perpetrators in their sexual abuse.
  • Identify the five stages of grooming and recognize behaviors within each stage utilizing a case study.
  • List at least two ways in which grooming causes psychological impact to victims.
  • Analyze the adult’s role in preventing child sexual abuse and identify at least two ways adults can take action.

Continuing Education Credits

All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. Participants may also apply for Continuing Education Credits after the event. Course meets qualifications for 2 hour(s) of Continuing Education Credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #128590).  The Center for Innovation and Resources, Inc. (CIR) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs.  CIR maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. CE Credits will be available after the event for a fee of $20. Certificates for CE Credits will be mailed to participants within two weeks following the event.
